25 Days of Kindness

Happy Thanksgiving! We hope your day is filled with family, friends, and food! Now officially begins the holiday season and it is universally accepted to listen to Christmas music (even though we’ve both been doing that for months).

When taking a moment to reflect, we are both beyond blessed by having so much to be thankful for this and every year – loving family, full-time jobs, our health – not everyone is as lucky though.  We’ve both felt the desire to give something back this year, and that’s where our idea for 25 Days of Kindness came from.

Beginning December 1st, we have a kindness “to-do” list running each day until Christmas. Some things are small, some require a little more time, but all will brighten someone else’s day and remind us the importance of giving.

  1. Send a hand written card to an older family member you haven’t talked to lately
  2. Buy the person’s coffee behind you
  3. Make a donation to or volunteer at the food bank
  4. Bake cookies for your neighbor
  5. Buy a gift off a giving tree
  6. Buy a warm drink for the salvation bell ringers
  7. Let the person behind you go ahead at the store
  8. Make a donation to a local animal shelter
  9. Share a positive/encouraging blog post with others
  10. Drop flowers off at hospital or senior center for whoever needs them most
  11. Leave change taped to vending machine for someone else to use
  12. Bring an extra cart or 2 from the parking lot into store
  13. Give care packs to the homeless
  14. Bring baked goods to your local fire/police department
  15. Be generous with compliments
  16. Send a care package to a soldier overseas
  17. Send flowers to brighten a friend’s day
  18. Buy coffee for your boss
  19. Make a positive comment on a website or blog
  20. Start a piggy bank for a cause – when it’s full, donate it to that charity
  21. Donate toys/gifts for kids at the hospital
  22. Do household chore for someone
  23. Leave a gift for your mailman
  24.  Thank your parents
  25. Leave a nice tip and card with someone working on Christmas
This month tends to get busy – very, very quickly. But we hope we’re able to accomplish this list. The important part is not that we do every single task on the exact day mentioned above, but just that we keep the spirit of giving alive and spread love and cheer to those around us.Kelly is in Sacramento and Stephanie is in Boise, and we would love if you joined us on our project wherever you are! We’ll be posting updates on Twitter and Facebook using the hashtag #25daysofkindness so you can follow along and share your experiences with us.
Have a very happy Thanksgiving!~Stephanie & Kelly
