Mint (Thin Mint) Mocha Milkshakes

So, have you seen the milkshake food truck driving around in your area recently? Exactly, there isn’t one (well maybe there is but I haven’t seen it!) and that’s what I want to drive one day. Seriously, I’d love to own a milkshake truck because I LOVE milkshakes! I consider myself a milkshake connoisseur and a somewhat milkshake snob. I believe the best milkshakes are the ones that require a spoon and straw. Chocolate milkshakes should never be made with chocolate ice cream, but with with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. And, when at a restaurant, the best part of the milkshake comes not in the pretty glass but in the cold tin cup. Like I said, I LOVE milkshakes!

The best milkshake I’ve had is from Ground Zero on the USC campus (just another reason why Trojans are the best!). I used to go with my former co-workers once a month. We were tempted to go everyday but we also knew that the amount of calories in one shake would take a month to work off! The milkshake I’m making today is inspired by my favorite milkshake at Ground Zero: The Bomb.com. A delicious blend of vanilla ice cream, coffee and Oreos. Yum! Seriously, so good! It was always a fun outing to get milkshakes with my co-workers so when I left, they threw a surprise build your own milkshake party to say goodbye! Have I mentioned that I really LOVE milkshakes yet??

Another thing about milkshakes: I don’t believe in “skinny” versions. If you’re going to indulge in a milkshake, indulge in a milkshake! My family and I do this thing where we’ll eat our dessert in 1/8ths thinking we won’t eat the whole cookie or the slice cake or the brownie and we’ll just take small bites and come back to it. We trick ourselves into thinking that by eating dessert in increments, we’ll eat less so it’s healthier. Wrong. We end up eating it all and then some! Don’t do that with a milkshake and try to be healthy by making it “skinny.” It’s just not worth it!

As I mentioned above, the inspiration for this milkshake comes from The Bomb.com shake and Thin Mints! It’s the Girl Scout Cookie time of year again and what better way to enjoy Thin Mints than with a delicious milkshake! Take your favorite Girl Scout Cookie and create your own milkshake. I promise, you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy 🙂
