Nutella Chocolate Chip Brownies

My name is Kelly and I am a Nutella addict.

Correction, my name is Kelly and I am a recovering Nutella addict.

I am recovering in the sense that I only buy Nutella if I am going to bake with it and only if I use the entire jar. If I don’t use the entire jar, I throw the rest away.  I know it’s wasteful and I do feel bad but, I cannot have Nutella around the house or I will turn into that person who comes home from work, throws on a pair of sweats, turns on a West Wing marathon via Netflix, and eats Nutella out of the jar with a spoon…

Oh wait, that was me. I went through a phase when I was living in San Francisco where I did just that but I realized that if I ever wanted my Pinterest Wedding Board to become a reality, I had better give this up. So, sadly, I did.

I could not give it up entirely, though, which is why I still bake with Nutella. The first thing I baked in my apartment in LA was chocolate chip Nutella swirl cookies. (Pretty sure my oven was on the fritz at this point but they still turned out!) When Stephanie came to visit me last year in LA, we went on a Nutella baking frenzy. We made Nutella Puppy Chow (which we left in a friend’s car so we would not eat the entire bag because if we’re being honest, we definitely could have!) and Nutella Swirl Banana Bread. I later made Oreo brownies with Nutella Buttercream frosting for my old co-workers and Nutella Cheesecake at the intern going away party.  I just love experimenting with Nutella recipes because they never taste bad!! Nutella is like a band-aid– if a recipe goes wrong, just add Nutella! To make any dessert better, just add Nutella!

These brownies will definitely cure any sweet, chocolate craving. In fact, I even cut the sugar in half (this recipe is adapted from a Nestle Toll House cookbook) and they are still super sweet! These are perfect when you need a chocolate fix and super easy to whip up. Next time you want to bake brownies, forget buying the box and make these instead!
