Sacramento Eats

I’ve fallen behind on the baking front lately. I wish my waistline appreciated this mini baking absence but unfortunately since I’ve moved closer to downtown, I’ve been eating out a lot more at some awesome restaurants… So sadly it doesn’t.

Here are some yummy places I’ve tried in Sacramento since I moved in December:

33rd Street Bistro: Amazing! A few blocks from where I live, my sister, her gf and I walked over there one night for dinner. I ordered a turkey sandwich, Kara ordered short ribs with grits, and Cesca ordered buttermilk fried chicken. We may have ordered separately but we ate it all together. All of it was amazing! The only disappointment- they ran out of vanilla ice cream and our cobbler was cold 🙁

The Shack: This is the place to go if you’re in the mood for a burger. I don’t eat burgers often but every now and then I crave red meat (seriously one time I craved tri-tip for a week straight and worried that I had some vitamin deficiency or something) and just need one. The burger was huge! I obviously ate it all, couldn’t let that deliciousness go to waste, but it left me full for days. Definitely an occasional stop but well worth it!

The Bread Store: I started working at an amazing new job that I love and I have probably eaten here at at least half the days I’ve been there. Ok that might be an exaggeration but I’ve been there a handful of times. They serve sandwiches and salads and just really, really good bread- baked fresh there! Oh, and there chocolate croissants are AMAZING! I wish I could eat one everyday!

Giovanni’s Pizza: It’s not uncommon to have pizza nights once a week- we certainly do! And we always go to Giovanni’s. It’s a smidge on the greasy side but the ratio of cheese, sauce and crust is superb. Also, they have the best dipping ranch. It’s not thick and mayonnaise-y like store bought ranch but light and yummy! We always order the Pizza Pie- just plain old cheese and it never disappoints!

Three Sisters: We decided to try this Mexican restaurant one night on a  whim and it was so good! (And yes, it is called Three Sisters and not Tres Hermanas.) We pulled into the parking lot and it looked closed so I’m not going to lie, I had very low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised! The chips and salsa were so good I wish I had some right now as I was blogging!

If you find yourself in the Sacramento area, be sure to check out some of these places!
