Proof 2016 went too fast: we’re halfway through January and we’re just posting our top recipes from last year! But better late than never, right? It’s always interesting for us to see what posts were the most popular. Some of these aren’t even from 2016!

Whiskey Chocolate Cake

Whiskey Chocolate Cake

Why is it that I always seem to make holiday themed treats after the holiday has passed?? In my defense, I actually made this cake for St. Patrick’s Day, I just didn’t post it in time. Clearly since it’s June… but hey, we can look

Whiskey Chocolate Cupcakes

Whiskey Chocolate Cupcakes

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Last year we gave you an Irish Gold Cocktail and Irish Soda Bread. Then Kelly actually went to Ireland and came back with Irish Brown Bread and a Hot Whiskey drink. You have tons of Irish options, but do you see what we’re missing here? Dessert!

Whiskey Chocolate Cupcakes - with Jameson for St. Patrick's Day! | longdistancebaking.com

I made Brown Eyed Baker’s Irish Car Bomb cupcakes a few years back and they were TO.DIE.FOR. But…they were pretty time consuming. I’ve been feeling awfully lazy in the kitchen lately, so I decided to forgo the Guinness and Bailey’s and just stick with the Jameson.

These cupcakes are rich: moist and oh so chocolatey with that extra added flavor from the whiskey. Any whiskey or bourbon would work, but I stuck with Jameson to keep with the Irish tradition.

What are your guys’ plans tonight? I’m not a huge St. Patty’s fan, but I’m sure we’ll end up celebrating in some way. Even if it’s just by eating these cupcakes.

Whiskey Caramel Corn (Chewy)

Whiskey Caramel Corn (Chewy)

As promised, I combined whiskey and popcorn. You’re welcome. Ever since I learned how easy it is to make your own microwave popcorn, I’ve been on a huge popcorn kick. It only seemed natural to make caramel corn as Christmas gifts to give out to

Pear Whiskey Ginger

Pear Whiskey Ginger

“She likes whiskey with her water”. “Every time you kiss me it’s like sunshine and whiskey”. “We could straight up blame it on the whiskey”. “She’s my little whiskey girl”.

Not to brag…but pretty sure all of those country songs were written with me in mind. My name is Stephanie. And whiskey is my fav (insert sassy brunette emoticon here).

Now I’m not a whiskey expert by any means. I’ve never done a whiskey tasting and I couldn’t describe the subtle differences between kinds, but I know enough to know I love whiskey.

Last summer I was all about the whiskey lemonades. During the winter it was whiskey cider. And now? Whiskey ginger. Hands down.

To put a fall twist on my current obsession I added some pear cider and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Let’s just say it did not disappoint. The cinnamon really makes all the difference!

I’m imagining this drink at our fall holiday parties, tailgates, maybe even Thanksgiving dinner?? I hope you give this a try even if you’re not a huge whiskey fan. This just might change your mind!

Irish Gold St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail

Irish Gold St. Patrick’s Day Cocktail

It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day!! To be honest, this isn’t a holiday I’ve ever really cared about. It kind of just seemed like another holiday we use here in the US as a reason to drink (like Cinco de Mayo…why are we celebrating Mexico’s Independence
